Coniston end to end

A group of Gloucester Masters members -past present and future -travelled up to Coniston Water in the Lake District to take part in the 5.25 mile end to end swim on Saturday September 6th. All successfully completed the swim within a field of 402 swimmers -and there were some amazing results: Steve Taylor stormed through to take 1st place in his age group, 2nd male and 2nd overall in a time of 2 hours 1minute and 15 seconds. Lisa Jones –(prospective new club member) wasn’t far behind taking 1st in age group, 1st female and 7th overall in a brilliant time of 2 hours 9 minutes and 3 seconds. Karen and Olly Hilton crossed the finishing line together (how romantic!) in times of 2 hours 31 minutes and 25 seconds and 2 hours 31 and 26 seconds respectively. Karen was 4th in her age group, 17th female and 50th overall; Olly achieved 13th in his age group, 34th male and 51st overall. Angela Wadley, in her longest ever competitive swim to date, achieved 3rd in her age group, 19th female and 62nd overall in a great time of 2 hours 34 minutes and 57 seconds. Penny Hickson (also achieving a ‘PF’ –personal furthest!) managed to complete the swim in under 3 hours as she had hoped in a time of 2 hours 55 minutes and 12 seconds. She was 6th in her age group, 55th female and 138 overall.
